A Ukrainian family was decimated by Russian mortar fire in Irpin, a village north of Kiev.

The scene was recounted by New York Times reporter Lynsey Addario. A couple and their children, a teenager and an 8-year-old girl, were killed by the Russian army. They were trying to flee Irpin.

38 children have died since the start of the war, said the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska. Vladimir Putin meanwhile repeated that he would achieve his goals “either through negotiation or through war”.
