The economic and financial magazine Forbes recently unveiled its ranking of the cities with the most billionaires in the world in 2022. A list spread over three continents. Here are the top 10.
New York, USA
In first position, we find New York. The American megalopolis has no less than 106 billionaires with a total fortune valued at 638.4 billion dollars (591 billion euros at today’s rate).
Beijing, China
In second place, Beijing. The capital of China is home to 83 billionaires for a total fortune of 310 billion dollars (287 billion euros).
Hong Kong, China
Hong Kong completes the podium. The former British colony, returned to China in 1997, has 67 billionaires. Their total fortune there amounts to 300.7 billion dollars (278 billion euros).
London, United Kingdom
First European city in the ranking. The British capital is home to 65 billionaires for a total fortune of 323 billion dollars (300 billion euros).
Shanghai, China
Just at the entrance of the top 5, we find Shanghai. One of the most populous cities in China has 61 billionaires whose cumulative fortune reaches 187 billion dollars (173 billion euros).
Shenzhen, China
Border city of Hong Kong, Shenzhen has 59 billionaires for 286.6 billion dollars in total (264 billion euros).
Moscow, Russia
The second European city in the ranking is in Russia, more precisely in the country’s capital, Moscow.
Many Russian businessmen like Roman Abramovich – now the former owner of the English football club Chelsea – or the current owner of the AS Monaco club Dimitri Rybolovlev are part of the 52 billion in the city.
Before the war in Ukraine, they accumulated some 217.5 billion dollars (about 201 billion euros).
Mumbai, India
In the Indian city of Mumbai, 51 billionaires form an immense fortune of 301.3 billion dollars (278 billion euros).
San Francisco, USA
Second American city in this top 10, San Francisco. Located on the West Coast of the United States, it has 45 billionaires whose combined portfolios amount to 162.3 billion dollars (150 billion euros).
Seoul, South Korea
Finally, the Korean capital comes to close the march of this top 10. Seoul thus has 38 billionaires with a total net worth of 108.3 billion dollars (100 billion euros).
