Axel Foster, a 4-year-old from Oklahoma, had his right arm torn off Friday, December 10 after trying to pet pitbull puppies at his grandparents’ house.
The boy had put his arm in the dog pen with the hope of touching them. He was watched by his father, according to police officers dispatched to the scene. Once there, the emergency services saw a horror scene. Axel Foster was lying, in the presence of his grandmother: below his right shoulder, nothing more.
Tecumseh Police Chief JR Kidney told local newspapers that “the arm was still in the pen” and that “when the officers tried to pick up the arm, the dogs became more aggressive.” One of the dogs had to be neutralized by the police in order to recover the arm, which he was chewing.
The police are investigating the circumstances of the accident and are wondering if the little boy was well supervised at the time of the incident. If not, her grandparents could be charged with “child neglect”.
