The American bank Citygroup has informed its employees that they would be made redundant if they were not vaccinated by January 14.
Employees were notified by email. A very clear ultimatum, informing that the recalcitrant would be dismissed immediately, without any compensation.
In all, 10% of the workforce is affected by this decision of the American group, or nearly 16,000 employees.
Some exceptions
The bank will nevertheless examine each case, with exemptions provided for medical or religious reasons.
As a reminder, compulsory vaccination at work is authorized in the United States. Last September, Joe Biden tried to pass a law to make vaccination compulsory for all companies with more than 100 employees.
