Driving on a highway on the East Coast of the United States, a semi-trailer made a spectacular fall in an icy river, near Boston. The driver miraculously escaped unharmed.

Filmed on February 26 by a Massachusetts State police camera in the United States, the surprising video of this road accident was shared the next day on the networks.

This impressive road crash occurred around noon, near the town of Weston, in the State of Massachusetts. The driver of the truck driving on Highway 95 suddenly lost control of his vehicle, which caused him to leave the road and fall from a bridge. The truck then plunged 15 m into the icy waters of the Charles River. Police told The Boston Herald newspaper that the tractor-trailer was carrying mail.

The driver survived by a miracle

Luckily, the Weston firefighters who were already in the area, were able to arrive on the scene only five minutes after the tragedy occurred. They took care of the injured driver. The latter, who, according to the police, could not swim, had remained standing on the truck while waiting for help. He was not injured but was still taken to a Boston hospital.

Assisted by a team of police divers, firefighters took nine hours to extract the truck and its trailer which lay in the bed of the river and remove all the debris.

Rescuers used a boat to recover hundreds of letters and packages scattered on the surface of the water at the time of the accident. Despite this rescue, some envelopes or parcels were permanently lost, whether they sank to the bottom of the river or the current carried them away.

A police investigation has been ordered to determine the causes of the accident.
