For these celebrations of the end of the year 2021, Queen Elisabeth II did not spend Christmas at Sandringham in the East of England, as usual, because of the rise in power of the Omicron variant.

It was in the territory of Winsdor Castle, on the outskirts of London, that she met some of her relatives. If she did not fail to pay a touching tribute during her Christmas greetings broadcast on December 25 to her ex-husband Philip who died in April, she took the opportunity to send a touching message to her great-granddaughter.

Named Lilibet Diana, the daughter of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry lives in the United States with her parents who have chosen to move away from the royal family. Born on June 4 in California, the little girl has not yet had the opportunity to travel to meet her whole family with the current sanitary conditions.

Despite the apparent family tensions, the new arrival was named Lilibet, in tribute to the queen who was nicknamed as she was younger. At the time, she had difficulty pronouncing her first name entirely and had then deleted a few syllables.
