Pakistani Air Force rocket fire killed six people, including five children and a woman, while a man was injured in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday (April 16th).

The shots hit Shelton district, Kunar, according to the provincial information director. Information also confirmed by a resident of the district, stressing that the attack had been carried out by Pakistani military planes.

Growing tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan

Since the seizure of power in Afghanistan by the Taliban, tensions have increased at the borders of the two countries. Pakistan says armed groups are carrying out attacks from Afghan soil, across a notoriously porous border. Another assault was also carried out a few hours before in the Afghan province of Khost. “Pakistani helicopters bombarded four villages in this province, only civilian houses were targeted and there were casualties,” an Afghan official said on condition of anonymity.

In response, the Afghan Foreign Ministry announced that it had summoned the Pakistani ambassador to Kabul after these latest incidents.
